He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Kara and Laura Kara; and his siblings, Richard Kara (Jeanette), Laura Haack (Tom), Patricia Hesse (Tom), Carol Kara and Frank Kara.

He is survived by: his wife Sharon Kara; his sons, Steven Kara (Jennifer), Brian Kara (Michelle) and Joseph Kara; his grandchildren, Lauren, Hailey, Alexis and Jason; and his siblings, Anita Rzab (late Stanley), Robert Kara (MaryAnn), James Kara (Dianne), Walter Kara, Linda Widule (late Edward) and Judith Huffman (late Mark).
