He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret F. Smego; his son Mark Smego (Peggy); his parents, John Smego and Anna Smego; and his siblings, George Smego (Muriel), Bernard Smego (Mildred), Joseph Smego (Kay), John Jr. Smego (Dorie), Raymond Smego (Lois), Dorothy Reiter (Robert), Bernadine Barrett (Richard) and Rosemary Bannon (Richard).
He is survived by: his children, Martin Smego (Kelly), Mary Kay Schumar (Jim), Mike Smego (Ann) and Margie Sznajder (Mike); his grandchildren, Ben, Daniel, Claire, Leah Smego, Ann Schumar, Tom Schumar (Alexandria), Kathleen Zapletal (Alex), Grace, Elizabeth, Mary Catherine Schumar, Maggie Broucek (Andrew), Molly Gaudette (Matt), Michael Smego (Cristina), Matthew Smego, Liam, Laura Smego, Catherine Olson (Derek), Brad, Jack and Luke Sznajder; his great grandchildren, Emma, Joey Broucek, Paul, Grace, Finn Gaudette, Daniel Schumar, Claire and Margaret Zapletal; and his sisters, Teresa Schofield (late Donald) and Catherine Mahalick (late George).
