As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Dana may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love.

She was loved and cherished by many people including: her sisters, Marla Portman (Mark) and Carrie Hightman (Harry); her parents, Paul Jankauer and Selma Jankauer; her nieces and nephews, Keith Portman, Lee Portman (Abby), Brian Hightman and Cassie Hightman; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Macy and Hannah.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Buffalo Grove Chapel - Under The (195 N Buffalo Grove Rd, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089).

In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated to the Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS) Foundation of America, http://www.apsfa.org. in memory of Dana Ackerman.

“I was shocked and saddened when I heard today that Dana had passed away. Honestly I cannot remember how long I did bank reconciliations and other accounting duties for ABS but I am thinking two decades. She and I had a great relationship, almost like sisters. We respected and trusted each other. I know she had lots of dear friends going back to her school days and her sisters whom she cherished. I will miss Dana. Sending condolences to her family.”
