He was predeceased by: his parents, Ambrosio Martinez and Carmen Alvarez; his son Carlos Martinez; his sisters, Guadalupe Martinez and Soledad Martinez Mancera; and his nephews, Jesus Zuniga, Fernando Morales and Christian Parada.
He is survived by: his wife Maria Esther Martinez; his children, Gonzalo Martinez Jr. (Ana), Julio Martinez Sr. (Maricela), Nora Martinez and Marco Martinez (Isela); his siblings, Ambrosio Martinez (Hortencia), Jesus Martinez (Caro), Gumersindo Martinez (Elisa), Maria Del Carmen Gomez (Arturo), Bertha Zungia (Mariano), Maria Farfan, Susana Fajardo (Joel) and Veronica Morales (Ignacio); and his grandchildren, BreAshley Martinez, Julio Martinez Jr., Jasmin Martinez, Evenie Melendez (Devin), Isela Martinez (Anthony), Abigail Martinez, Adriana Martinez, Melina Martinez, Emma Martinez and Michael Martinez. He is also survived by nephew and nieces.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Marsh Funeral Home (305 N Cemetery Rd, Gurnee, IL 60031). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Family Catholic Church (450 Keller Ave, Waukegan, IL 60085).
