He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Thoralf Hetland and Ragnhild Hetland; his siblings, Esther Donna Bucholz (Donald) and Roger Hetland (Barbara); and his nieces and nephews, Todd Bucholz (Corrine), Donna Johnson (Dan), Linda Lathrop (Tim) and Christopher Hetland (Jennifer). He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, November 22nd 2024 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cumberland Chapels (8300 W Lawrence Ave, Norridge, IL 60706). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 at the Acacia Park Cemetery (7800 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL 60706).
