He was predeceased by: his parents, H. Gerald Welch and Louise McClelland Welch; and his brother David. He is survived by: his wife Christine Davis; his daughters, Elise Wallo (Michael) and Vicki Trimpe (Steve); his stepchildren, Roxanne DeGrammont (Dominique) and Greg Broquard (Ionela Morosanu); his grandchildren, Lauren, Alex Wallo, Anna, Rachel, Rebecca Trimpe, Timothy, Andrew, Robert Hinger (Viviana), Natalie and Samantha Broquard; and his siblings, Penny Hiltabrand (Ben), Jane Meilahn (Mick) and John Welch. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, whose doctors successfully treated one of his grandchildren for childhood cancer.
