He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Robert and Ruth Carter (Budd); his child Dorrie Johnson; his grandchildren, Stefanie Snow (Ryan), Lee Holub and Karly Johnson; his stepgrandchildren, Glen Johnson, Janis Johnson (James) and Casey Hartman (Mike); his great grandchildren, Elliana Harris, Raelynn Snow and Nolan Snow; his siblings, Roberta Sanderson and Dennis Carter; his son-in-law Glen Johnson; and his brothers, Randy and Bill Carter. He was also cherished by 8 step-great-grandchildren.
