He was predeceased by: his parents, Rufus Fitzgerald and Bessie Bowman Fitzgerald; his wife Agnes Price; and his sons, Robert A. Fitzgerald, Jr., Stevin Ray Fitzgerald and Mike Wayne Fitzgerald.

He is survived by: his sister Hazel "Peggy" Cochran of Normal. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Bloomington-Normal American Legion Honor Guard.
