He was predeceased by: his parents, Willard Nichelson and Jeanette Nichelson; and his brother Jack. He is survived by: his wife Sharon; his sons, David (Janice), Michael (Renee) and Ted Nichelson; his stepdaughters, Heidi Witthoeft (Trent), Robin Dixson and Ginger Dixson; his grandchildren, Rachael, Katelynn and Zachary; and his stepmother Carmen Nichelson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Lutheran Church in Normal.
