He was predeceased by: his parents, Roscoe Raper and Meriba Raper (Horney); his wife Mildred Maxene Smith; and his sister Idelle Standard. He is survived by: his children, Steven E. Raper (Pamela) of Radnor, PA., Randall Raper (Pamela) of Bloomington, IL and Rebecca Ryherd (David) of Champaign, IL.; his grandchildren, Scott Raper (Traci), Christie Trunnell (Tim), Matthew Raper (Andrea), Anna Raper (Adam Christmann), Alexander Raper (Melissa), Benjamin Ryherd (Laurel) and Lisa Ryherd; his great grandchildren, Alexus Roberts, Natalie Raper, Evan Raper, Eric Raper, Dax Raper and Kylie Trunnell; and his brother Harold Raper.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Normal or the American Heart Association.
