Delbert E. Smidt Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Delbert E. Smidt of Normal, Illinois, who passed away on April 15, 2025 at the age of 78. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Hensman Smidt and Ardella Smidt (Olmstead); his brother Duane Smidt; his granddaughter Jordan Smidt; and his brother-in-law Rocky Shipp.
He is survived by: his wife Pat Smidt of Normal; his children, Michelle Giermann (Wayne) of Normal, Roni Shevlin (Keith) of Evans and Eric Smidt (Wendy) of San Diego, California.; his grandchildren, Ricky Zamudio (Ali O'Regan) of Littleton, Colorado, Marisa Zamudio (Max Pavelec) of Lone Tree, Colorado, Cami Crawford (Will) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, John Shevlin of Evans, Georgia, Madison Smidt of San Diego, California. and Evan Smidt of San Diego, California.; his stepgrandchildren, Andrew Giermann (Samantha) of Durham, Chris Giermann (Jenn) of Bloomington and Susan Giermann of Bloomington; and his siblings, Donna Meyer (Larry) of Beaver Dam, Darlene Shipp of Waverly and Dean Smidt (Karla) of Kanawha, Iowa. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 18th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial (1104 N Main St, Bloomington, IL 61701). A memorial service was held on Friday, April 18th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
