He was predeceased by: his father Robert Knight; and his father-in-law Gordon Sands. He is survived by: his mother Catharine Knight (Watke) of Normal; his wife Sara Sands; his sisters, Elaine Knight (Lincoln), Susan Merrick (Michael) and Mary Knightwright (Jim); his sister-in-law Cindy Helmers (Dennis); his mother-in-law Donna Sands; his nieces and nephews, John Merrick (Lara), Cathy Myers (Josh), Alexander Knightwright, Benjamin Knightwright (Kritika), Brian Helmers (Kelly) and Kristin Saluja (Sanjit); and his close friend Jim Cruser. He is also survived by six great-nephews/niece.
The family suggests memorials to the Normal First United Methodist Church Choir or a charity of donor's choice.
