She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Henry August and Blanche Meriweather Higar; her children, Kim Butts (Jane) of Naples, FL, Brock Butts (Jane) of Tremont, Sheryl Nord of Yalaha, FL and Candice Birle (Donald) of Yalaha, FL; her granddaughter Cynthia Nord; and her sister Jackie Baum. She was also cherished by nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

“Betty was a beautiful soul. She used to bring thoughtful gifts to us at Christmas time when I was young. She was a bright personality. I later visited her when she was in an apartment in Bloomington. I’m glad I was able to get to know her in some way. My grandmother was her sister.”
