He was predeceased by: his wife Beatrice; his son Karl Robert Johnson; his parents, Theodore Johnson and Mildred Johnson (Berg); and his brother Robert Johnson.
He is survived by: his daughters, Karen Herman (Richard) of La Grange, IL, Karolyn Godfrey (Spencer) of San Miguel and Kimberly Johnson Garrigan of Oswego, IL; his grandchildren, Jeffrey Herman, Brian Herman (Kristi), Sally Johnson, Kyle Godfrey, Connor Godfrey, Casey Godfrey, Beatrice Garrigan and Elizabeth Garrigan; and his great grandchildren, Margaret Herman and Abigail Herman.
He had a dream of building a sailboat and almost completed that dream before he fell ill with Parkinson's.
