He is survived by: his spouse Sherrill Popovich; his children, Joseph Umberger (Ellen) of Taylorville, Rebecca Carraher (Mark) of Taylorville and Christine Compton (Loren) of Nokomis; and his sister Vicki Maedge of Staunton. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
