She was predeceased by: her parents, John Sphar and Thuressa Evelyn Sphar (Milligan); her spouse Marlyn L. Janssen; and her siblings, Orvel Sphar, Betty Lynch and Doris Jackson.

She is survived by: her sons, Curtis Janssen (Ida Nielsen) of Livermore, CA and Bruce Janssen of Nokomis, IL. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ellen's honor may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to Shriners Children's Hospital.
