Though Betty may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Betty touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Howell and Bertha Howell; her husband Earl Smull; her daughter Suzi Lopez; and her siblings, Robert, Richard and Eleanor.

She is survived by: her children, Virginia McKinney of Niantic and Jay Smull (Angie) of Texas. She is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and even a great-great-great grandchild.

Visitation was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Niantic United Methodist Church (211 North St, Niantic, IL 62551). A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
