It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Wanda Ione Matson of Newton, Illinois, who passed away on December 30, 2021, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Franklin and Bessie Evelyn Wagner (Rooks); her husband Lloyd L. "Pete" Matson; her daughter Carol L. Thurman; her children-in-law, Larry Thurman and Beverly Matson; her granddaughter Joni Johnson; her siblings, Lawrence Wagner and Juanita Gerth; and her half-brothers, Russell Bond and Glen Bond.
She is survived by: her children, Larry G. "Red" Matson (Barb) of Newton and IllinoisJames D. Matson (Caroline) of Newton; her grandchildren, Joyce Ann Johnson, Jack Huddleston, Jr. (Sherry), Jay Huddleston (Sherry), Jimi Thurman, Danny Matson (Cindi), Tom Matson (Julie), David Matson (Cheryl), Rob Matson (Debbie), Mollie Hart (Lee) and Jamee Mitchell3 (David); and her sisters-in-law, Neva June Bozen, Mary D. Waddell and Helen Matson.
In loving memory of Wanda, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Senior Citizens Center.
