He was predeceased by: his parents, Owen Brooks and Ada Brooks (Thomas); his sister Ruth Gorman; and his sister-in-law Anita Brooks. He is survived by: his wife Janet Brooks of Newton; his children, Patti (Ron Ochs) of Newton, Illinois, Tony (Geri Brooks) of Newton and Julie Bierman (Ed Shamhart) of Olney; his grandchildren, Lindsey Hermann (Jason) of Newton, Illinois, Ryan Ochs of Des Plains, Illinois, Marcus Brooks (Buffy) of Newton and Kelsey Taylor (Ryan) of Indianapolis; his great grandchildren, Allie, Blake Hermann, Emma Brooks, Ada and Elise Taylor; and his siblings, Kay White of Hendersonville, Bob Brooks of Newton and Ralph Brooks (Roseanne) of Tuscola.
In loving memory of Maurice, memorials may be made to the Central Christian Church or St. Thomas School.
