He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Schackmann and Mary Schackmann (Miller); and his siblings, Clarence, Ralph, Herman, Joe, Paul, Don Schackmann, Charlene Gribben and Margaret Hollis.
He is survived by: his wife Madonna Shedelbower; his son Gerard "Jerry"; his daughter-in-law Susan Schackmann of Smyerna, TN; his daughters, Debbie (Danny Davis), Patti (Steve Messman) and Darlene Schackmann of Mattoon, IL.; his brother Gene; his sister-in-law Donna Schackmann of Newton, IL; his sisters, Therese Bruemmer of Newton, IL and Rita Rasmussen of Whitewater, WI; and his close friend Judy Boyd of Willow Hill.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers expression of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to either Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or Newton American Legion Post # 20.
