She was predeceased by: her parents, Ralph Thomas and Florence Thomas; and her brother Reginald Thomas. She is survived by: her children, Erica Oberts (Mark) and Evan Akers; her grandchildren, Matthew, Olivia and Owen Oberts; her siblings, Jonelle Grigsby (Jerry) and Jay Thomas; her nieces and nephews, Jerilyn Kozek and Jamie Kozek (Amy); and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Nick, Stefani Kier and Brooklyn Kozek.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Denise's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be appreciated.
