He was predeceased by: his parents, George and Angela; his stepmother Nina; and his siblings, Joyce Sjostrom, George "Bud" Swanson and Gladys Jensen.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret; his children, Paul Swanson (Donna) of O'Fallon and Carolyn Frisse (Robert Jr.) of New Baden; his grandchildren, Melanie Dziurdzy (Caleb), Michael, Gwendolyn and Cale; his great grandchildren, Camden, Alina and Lydia; and his sister Marie Arneson (Marvin) of Prentice Wisc.
