With profound sadness, we say goodbye to John Albert Hund of New Baden, Illinois, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Hund and Frances Hund (Moll); his wife Mary B. Hefner; his mother-in-law Olis (Mary Ann Hefner); his siblings, Paul Hund (Betty), Jim Hund and Gene Hund; and his brother-in-law Robert Hefner.
He is survived by: his children, Steve Hund (Jacquie) of Irvington, Alan Hund (Veronica) of New Baden, Tater Hund (Norma) of New Baden, Susie Hintz (Tim) of New Baden and Dan Hund (Gretchen) of Highland; his grandchildren, Zach Hund (Kayla), Jessie Hund, Josh Hund (Lori Johnston), Dylan Hund (Maddie), Rhys Hund, Melanie Haas (Adam), Bryn Hund, Carys Gubbels (Austin), Ffyon Hund, Trent Hund, John Hund, Calvin Hintz, Jay Strider, Valerie Hund and Lucas Hund; and his sister-in-law Lonnie Hefner of Mascoutah. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, March 15th 2025 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Nordike Funeral Home (15 E Hanover St, New Baden, IL 62265). A Mass was held on Saturday, March 15th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the St. George Catholic Church (200 N 3rd St, New Baden, IL 62265). A burial was held on Saturday, March 15th 2025 from 1:45 PM to 2:45 PM at the Resurrection Cemetery (8999 IL-160, New Baden, IL 62265).
Memorials may be made to Clinton Manor Nursing Home or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 15 East Hanover Street, New Baden, IL 62265.
