He was predeceased by: his parents, William T. Idean and Erma Idean; his sister Linda Carter; his brother-in-law Mark Pensoneau; and his niece Heather Pensoneau.
He is survived by: his wife Helen; his son James E. Cook II; his brother Lonnis Cook (Sally); his nephews, Brad Cook, Lonnie Cook Jr. and Allen Carter; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Brett Cook, Chase Cook, Cameron Cook (Mercedes), Logan Cook, Hayley Witkus, Gavyn King and Madison King.
