It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dorothy B. Hentzel of New Athens, Illinois, born in Belleville, Illinois, who passed away on July 28, 2021, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, John W. Utz and Dorothy Utz (Emge); her husband Marvin W. Hentzel; her siblings, Jayne Wasson and Norbert Utz; and her son-in-law Alan Schmidt.
She is survived by: her children, Joel Hentzel (Angie) of Smithton, IL, Jan Schwartz (Craig) of Freeburg, IL, Jeana Schmidt of Marissa, IL and Julie Crowe (Mike) of Edwardsville, IL; her grandchildren, Jonathon, Jennifer Hentzel, Allison Carrico (Chad), Laura Davis (Brad), Brad Taake (Katie), Chris Schwartz (Rebecca), Jordan Schwartz, Jackie Weaver (Phil), Joanna Lindauer (Matt), Megan Crowe and Brian Crowe; and her sister-in-law Wilda Utz of O'Fallon, IL. She is also survived by twelve great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Agatha Parish or to the New Athens Home for the Aged in New Athens.
