He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley Mercer and Ruth Mercer (Thompson). He is survived by: his wife Kathleen; his sons, Stanley Mercer (Audrey), Kewanee and Michael Mercer (Becky); and his grandchildren, Tyler Mercer, Ashley Mercer and Princeton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Western Bureau County Food Pantry, Sheffield.
