He was predeceased by: his parents, George Rex and Mildred Ione Barnett (Martin); his wife Patricia Barnett; his son Scott I Barnett; and his sisters, Margaret Brock and Betty Jane Miller.

He is survived by: his son George Rex Barnett III (Dee); and his close friends, David Perry of Neoga, Illinois., Gary Hartke of Neoga, Illinois., Tommy of Neoga, Illinois. and Brenda Himes of Neoga, Illinois.. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
