He was predeceased by: his parents, Jewel Richards and Gladys Richards; his wife Mary Joanna Carson; and his siblings-in-law, Preston, Jane Carson, Eileen and William Auld.
He is survived by: his children, Gary William Richards (Ruth Ann) of Nashville, IL, Mark Carson Richards of Troy, IL and Gail Ann Schamel (Kurt) of Brentwood, MO; his grandchildren, Shawn Richards (Christina), Erica Richards (Kevin Hiatt), Dustin Richards (Emily), Abigail Kleinschmidt (Timothy), Carter Schamel (Mary Flook), Elizabeth Henry (Timothy) and Rebecca Schamel; and his siblings, Barbara Niedermeyer (Fred) and Dale Richards (Jeanette). He is also survived by nine great grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, the Nashville Legion Home Building Fund or the Masonic Cemetery and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home, who is assisting the family with arrangements.
