Vernon C. Bartels Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Vernon C. Bartels (Naperville, Illinois), born in Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on February 3, 2019, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Carl Bartels, Sr. and Anna C. Bartels; and his aunt Sylvia Chvalovsky. He is survived by: his wife Jeanette Bartels (Roasch); his children, Sarah Bartels (Bill Nagel), John Bartels (Stephanie) and Sharon Garvy (Dan); his grandchildren, Jack, Sean, Haley, Leah, Lauren and Hannah; and his brother Roger Bartels (Lisa). He is also survived by his children and grandchildren play sports and utilizing his distinct voice announcing wrestling tournaments and football games for Lisle High School and swim meets at the Meadows Pool, employing the talent he developed as a radio broadcaster in the 1950s. Vern capped off his professional career in sales, publishing, and marketing by working for the American Cancer Society, where he raised funds to fight cancer, a disease that took the life of his mother, and from which he was cured. Vern and his family are grateful for the many friends.
