He was predeceased by: his wife Judith "Judy" (Bentson); his parents, Gertrude Joseph and Frank Joseph; his parents-in-law, John and Jean Mazza; his granddaughter Amanda; his siblings, Bob Wehrli (Lorraine), Jim Wehrli (Bettye), Marge Walsh (Wally), Calista Wehrli, Andrew Wehrli (Audra), Joe Wehrli (Dot Dieter), Donald Wehrli (Jean), Jean Kuhn (Bob), John "Harp" Wehrli (Ginny) and Joyce Wehrli (Joseph Roth); and his brother-in-law Bob Jansen.
He is survived by: his sons, Robert Wayne Wehrli (Janet) of Naperville and Mayor Scott Wehrli (Lynda) of Naperville; his grandchildren, Maggie Wehrli, Molly Lee (Kevin), Katie Schlesinger (Scott), Bobby Wehrli, Samuel and Hope Wehrli; and his great grandchildren, Ellie, Abby, Wyatt Lee, Luke and Liam Schlesinger.
The pair donated significant funding and spearheaded the effort to construct a new state-of-the-art facility in its place, featuring 5, 500 spectator seats, brand new track and field facilities, a modern press box, athletic training rooms, classrooms, and office space.
