With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Ronald Thomas Johnston of Murphysboro, Illinois, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Sidney Johnston and June King Johnston; his wife Norma Johnston; his brothers, Sidney Johnston and Gary Johnston; and his stepson Richard Lee Stearns.
He is survived by: his sisters, Barbara Jurak (David) and Joyce Johnston; his stepchildren, Russel Stearns, Jr., Michael Stearns (Karen), Sheila Ahten, Cindy Pierce (John Hunziker) and Twyla Panus; and his pet Snuggles. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, November 4th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home - Old (31 Memorial Dr, Murphysboro, IL 62966). A funeral service was held on Monday, November 4th 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, November 4th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Alto Pass Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests with gratitude that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
