With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joseph Edward Genovese of Murphysboro, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 6, 2024 at the age of 87. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Charles and Ella Zelphia Genovese (Worthen); his wife Joann Turner; his brothers, Joe and Donald Genovese; his stepmother Helen Genovese; and his daughter Pat Florig (James).
He is survived by: his daughter Elizabeth Kiel (Robert) of Murphysboro; his granddaughter Brittney Pearson (David) of Pinckneyville; his great grandchild Ember Pearson; his stepgrandson Matthew Kiel (Natalie) of Florida; and his siblings, Toni Jurich (Pat) of Christopher and Frank Genovese (Vickie) of St. Louis. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, December 12th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Andrew Catholic Church (724 Mulberry St, Murphysboro, IL 62966). A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, December 12th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location. The inurnment was held on Thursday, December 12th 2024 from 11:45 AM to 12:15 PM at the St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery (724 Mulberry St, Murphysboro, IL 62966).
