He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Rathjen and Marie Rathjen (Miesner); his brother-in-law Gary Davis; and also Shawn Thiele. He is survived by: his wife Doris Davis; his children, Angela Shellenbergar (Matt), Melinda Rathjen and John Rathjen (Morgan); his grandchildren, Megan Shellenbergar, Molly Shellenbergar, Andrew John Shellenbergar, Deacon Rathjen and Baylor Rathjen; his brother Kevin Rathjen (Marla); and his siblings-in-law, Bruce Davis (Carolyn) and Linda Davis.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 14th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Elm Street Baptist Church (1907 Elm St, Murphysboro, IL 62966). A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 14th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the same location. The military honors will be held on Monday, April 14th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at 137 Murdale Gardens Rd, Murphysboro, IL 62966.
