He was predeceased by: his father Thomas Stanton; his wife Patricia Faye Penrod; his granddaughter Heather; and his great grandchild Oakley. He is survived by: his children, Nancy Bitner (Dan), Lisa Keller, Claude Stanton II and Sarah Ehlers (Ryan); his grandchildren, Doug Bitner (Brandi), Nikki Krummrich (Morgan), Alicia Stanton (Rick), Mike Keller, Jonathan Ehlers (Megan), Drake Ehlers (August) and Madison Ehlers; and his siblings, James Stanton, Debbie Sykes, Patricia Grammer, Ronald Stanton and Jeanie Gummersheimer. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials can be made to the Murphysboro Boy Scouts in lieu of flowers and can be sent to Crain Funeral Home in Murphysboro.
