With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Allan Joe Jackson (Murphysboro, Illinois), born in Harrisburg, Illinois, who passed away on February 13, 2025 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Jackson and Virginia Evelyn Jackson (Morton). He is survived by: his children, Juliet Jackson (Johnetta), Jill Bulgin (Chip) and Joshua Jackson (Kim); his grandchildren, Mitchell Jackson, Austin Davis, Benjamin Jackson, Andrew Gluck, Christiana Bulgin and Garrett Bulgin; his great grandchild Remington Davis; his sister Mary Anne McGinness (Donald); and his nephew Charles McGinness.
His most significant contribution to the station occurred on January 14, 1972, when WTAX-FM became WDBR, further developing it as a totally independent station from its AM counterpart.
