He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Chester Wendell and Dorothy Jane Simpson; his wife Lynn Ann Simpson; his children, Jeanette Ann Vandenboom (Dave), Michael Lee Simpson Jr. (Janelle) and Kathrine Lee Hudson (Travis); his grandchildren, Kristin Lee Fletcher (Thomas Nigh), Scott Anthony Hudson (Nyah), Sydney Marie Simpson and Hunter Lee Simpson; and his sister Leslie Simpson.
