He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Elmo and Viola Augusta Emerson (Pfeifer); and his great-niece Ashley Marie Fencik. He is survived by: his brothers, Richard Emerson (Gail) of Perry, IL and Dale Emerson of Moweaqua Illinois; and his nieces, Brenda DeSpain of Griggsville, Beth Fencik (Rick) of Chambersburg and Barbara Webel (Rick) of Mt. Sterling. He is also survived by 10 great-nieces and nephews, and 13 great-great nieces and nephews.
