It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert Eugene Nicholson of Mount Zion, Illinois, born in Decatur, Illinois, who passed away on March 28, 2021, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, William H. II and Mary Nicholson (Groves); and his stepmother Shirley Nicholson (Sandra). He is survived by: his wife Sandra M. McKey; his children, Douglas (Julietta), Brian (Gail) and Jennifer Richardson (Charles); his grandchildren, Sophie Mae and Christopher Richardson; his stepgrandchildren, Ashton Brinkoetter, Colin Brinkoetter (Meleah), Justin Brinkoetter (Elizabeth) and Ryan Brinkoetter; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Sienna, London, Jaycee, Bradyn and Ivy; his siblings, William Nicholson (Colleen) and Ann Nicholson of Chicago; and his siblings-in-law, Cindy Kates (David) and Tom McKey. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and special cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Gene's name to Traditions Hospice.
