With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Wilma Mays of Mount Vernon, Illinois, born in Dix, Illinois, who passed away on December 27, 2020 at the age of 94. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Wilma Mays to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Troy Douthit and Grace Douthit (Mooney); her husband Howard E. Mays; and her siblings, Bud Douthit, Marilyn Blackwell and Gene Douthit.
She is survived by: her children, Trula Wells (Larry) of Metropolis, Gerald Mays of Mt. Vernon and Darrel Mays (Robyn) of Mt. Vernon; her grandchildren, Melia Steffy (Jeff) of Mt. Vernon, Joshua Mays (Buffy) of Dahlgren, Tressa Porter (Chad) of Woodlawn and Tiffany Ellegood (Phillip) of Calvert City, Kentucky; and her siblings, Charles Douthit (Mary), Ramona Flanigan (Mike) and Shirley Phelps. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
Due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, a private family funeral service will be held, with burial to follow at Boyd Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Jordan Chapel Cemetery, and will be accepted by mail to the Osborn Funeral Home, P.O. Box 130, Dix, Illinois 62830.
