He was predeceased by: his father Fred Van Matre; his stepfather Cletus Fields; his sister Kathy Miller; and his parents-in-law, Charles and Mary Ellen Johnson.
He is survived by: his mother Frances Van Matre (Lang); his wife Diane "Nancy" Van Matre (Johnson); his children, Kristi Loss (James), Jason Van Matre (Rindy) and Shad Van Matre; his grandchildren, Seth Cox (Lanie), Kaleb Cox, Rance Cummings, Rylan Van Matre, Jayda Van Matre, Aiden Loss and Alexa Loss; his brothers, Jim Van Matre (Connie), Mark Van Matre and David Fields (Tyra); and his siblings-in-law, Mike Johnson (Leona), Alan Johnson (Patty), Teresa Woodside (Eric) and Lynnette Bain (Jamie). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
