He is survived by: his wife Kathy; his stepchildren, Jeffrey Ross Wimberly of Miami Beach and Leighann Collins Wimberly of DuQuoin; his sister-in-law Rebecca Collins Schmitt (Steve); his nephews, Paul and Reed Schmitt; his niece Amy Hallinan; his sister Rebecca Blackward Grothoff of Mt. Vernon; his niece Vanessa Blackward Shaw; his great-niece Tori Shaw; his great-nephew Tanner Shaw of Mt. Vernon; his stepsiblings, Barbara Brake (Richard) of Marion and Gordon Page (Patty); and his cousins, Marguerite Moore Koland of Iowa City, Marjorie Hollingsworth of Marionville, Gene Foreman and IIlinois.
Memorials may be made in Smokey's honor to MVTHS Boys and Girls Golf or Centralia Humane Society, from which Maggie Mae, the family dog, was rescued.
