Kahtz (Hale); his children, Jennifer Darlene Kahtz of Phoeniz, Arizona, David James Mounce (Christine) of Kingwood, Stephen Wayne Mounce of San Francisco and Anthony Kahtz of Mount Vernon, Illinois; his grandchildren, David Anthony Mounce, Travis Andrew Mounce, Samatha Jean Mounce, McKenzie Jean Carrington and Nicklaus Oliver Kahtz; his sister Sheila Bailey (David) of Florida; his niece Sharon Pixley (Bill) of Mount Vernon, Illinois; his nephew Mike Bailey of Decatur, Illinois; and his great-niece Maria.

Memorials may be made to the Saint Louis Zoo in Ron's name or to the Jefferson County Animal Shelter.
