He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Earl and Vivian Irene Ballard (Wilson); his brother Ronnie Ballard; his grandparents, Joe, Vesta Wilson, Earl and Maude Ballard; and his niece Keyma Floyd.

He is survived by: his wife Darlene Kay Ballard (Wells); his children, Lee Ann West (Dwight) of Mount Vernon, Faron Brent Ballard (Crystal) of Mount Vernon and Jodi Rae Ballard of Mount Vernon, Illinois; his grandchildren, Kyle Coy West (Kim), Shelbi Rae Jones (Morgan), Grayson Morgan Ballard, Ethan Rae Evans (Kaylee) and Gable Lane Evans (Kaci); his great grandchildren, Kennidee Rae West and Kenndall Jade West; his niece Tanya Keene (Kyle) of Mount Vernon; and his aunt Jessie "Pug" Wilson. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be made in Roger's honor to the St. Louis Transitional Hope House.
