We bid farewell to Roberta Mae Scherer of Mount Vernon, Illinois, born in Wayne City, Illinois, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on August 14, 2024 at the age of 91. Roberta Mae touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jessie Stroud and Josephine Agnes Stroud (Laird); her husband Jacob F. "Jake" Scherer; her great grandchild Rylan K. Ashby; her daughter-in-law Diane Scherer; and her sister Mary Ruth Murphy.
She is survived by: her children, Brenda Braden of Benton, Patricia "Patsy" Mourey of Bluford, Rhonda Linza (Michael) of Grand Junction, J. D. Scherer (Melody) of Mount Vernon and Roger Scherer of The Woodlands, Texas; her grandchildren, Gwendolyn "Gwen" Sweetin (Rodney) of Benton, Jason Mourey of Belleville, Chasity Mourey of Katy, Jessica Ashby (Jon) of Mount Vernon, Jaymi Johnson (Adam) of The Woodlands, Ashley Scherer of Katy and Derek Riley of Grand Junction, Colorado; and her siblings, Johnnie Stroud of Aurora and Barbara Davis (Larry) of Fairfield, Illinois. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
