It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ray E. Bishop of Mount Vernon, Illinois, who passed away on January 14, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Ray E. Bishop to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Bishop and Rista Bishop (Butler); his sister Mamie (Bishop); his brother-in-law Norman Ramsey; his sister Hazel Ramsey (Bishop); his brother-in-law Floyd Ramsey; and his brother Henry Elmo Bishop.
He is survived by: his daughter Mindy Claggett (Bishop); his son-in-law Don Claggett; his grandson Gannon Claggett; his daughter Kendra Varner (Bishop); his son-in-law Larry Varner; and his grandchildren, Drew (Kennedy), Aaron and Abby Varner. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ray's memory to the First Baptist Church of Kettering building fund or to any Peoples National Bank (c/o Pleasant Hill Cemetery Dahlgren) for grounds maintenance.
