He was predeceased by: his parents, Berthyl Austin and Edna Austin (Minor); his wife Betty Byars; and his siblings, Berthyl Austin, Jr., Waymon Austin, Marvie Austin, Velma Ullery and Patricia Connaway.
He is survived by: his children, Steven Austin (Holly) of Mt. Vernon and Sondra Caldwell (Mark) of Texico; his grandchildren, Jana Mullinax (Rodney) of Mt. Vernon, Marci Sherwin (Dean) of Texico, Adam Caldwell (Erin) of Terre Haute, Kane Austin (Ashley) of Inman and Adrian Austin (Quest Newberry) of Brenham, Texas; his great grandchildren, Quinton Mullinax, Alexia Sherwin, Elias Mullinax, Walker Sherwin, Violet Caldwell, Milo Caldwell and Asher Caldwell; his brother Chalon Austin (Effie Mae) of Dix; and his siblings-in-law, Edgar Byars of Kell and Sheila Byars of Marlow. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
