He was predeceased by: his parents, James Witzel and Lena Amelia Witzel (Rodatz); and his brothers, Robert Witzel, Walter Rodatz and Rolla Pierce.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Witzel (Burkitt); his daughters, Brenda Torrez (Luther) of Mount Vernon and Lora Nafziger (Gabriel Rivera) of Bonnie; his grandchildren, Bryson Owens (Jerrica), Luther Torrez, Jr. (Alina), Cody Owens, Britney, Nickolas Torrez, Aaron Nafziger, Amanda, Shane Nafziger (Julie), Riana Torrez, Amelia Torrez and Michael Lyle Torrez; his caregivers, Lauren Zemaskas and Tonya Elliston; and also, Ronnie and Mary Krutsinger. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lyle's honor to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital.
