With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Leila Fern Cox of Mount Vernon, Illinois, who passed away on December 18, 2022 at the age of 95. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her father Berthold L. Flanagan; her husband William H. Cox, Sr.; her siblings, Oneta Dixon, Onis Flanagan, Orval Flanagan, Kenneth Flanagan and Claude Flanagan; and her stepson-in-law Larry Goss.
She is survived by: her sons, James W. Dare of Highland Village and Robert L. Dare of Martinez, Georgia; her grandchildren, Tracy Defabio (Ron), John W. Dare, Robbi Sullivan (Dave), Megan E. Dare and Jacob W. Dare; her great grandchildren, Coletin Defabio, Shelby Defabio, Aurora Dare, Ryan Sullivan, Jacob Sullivan and Everett Sullivan; her stepchildren, William Cox, Jr. (Pam), John Cox (Debbie), Hedy Goss, Marty Cox (Cindi) and Chris Cox (Linda); and her stepgrandchildren, Christy Young (Danny), Mindy Goss, Jill Buck, Billy Cox III (Jennie), Julie Hovermale, Jack Cox, Casey Rhine, Libby Donaldson, Marc Cox, Michael Cox and Daniel Cox. She is also survived by several step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made in Johnnie's honor to a charity of the donor's choice.
