It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John O. Melvin (Mount Vernon, Illinois), who passed away on June 19, 2021, at the age of 57, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John O. Melvin, I and Patricia Melvin (Johnson); his sister-in-law Davina Overbey; his father-in-law Arthur Highfill; and his stepfather-in-law David Schreiber.
He is survived by: his mother-in-law Tammy Melvin (Highfill); his children, John O. Melvin III (Beth Williams) of Herrin, Trent Barber (Shelby) of Mount Vernon, Tyler Barber of Mount Vernon, Trevor Barber of Mount Vernon, Jami Melvin of Sesser, Tricia Melvin (Bert Bloomfield) of Ava, Maeleigh Melvin of DuQuoin, Myai Melvin of DuQuoin and Brandi Melvin of DuQuoin, Illinois; his mother-in-law Dee Schreiber of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and his stepmother Marilyn Melvin of DuQuoin, Illinois.. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren.
Memorials may be made in John's honor to the benefit of his children still living at home in the care of Tammy Melvin.
