He is survived by: his sons, Mark Hayes of Mount Vernon and Mike Hayes of Calvert City, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Tyler Hayes of Brookhaven, Valerie Hayes of Mount Vernon and Melissa Hayes of Calvert City; and his siblings, Jake Hayes of Mount Vernon, Marvin Hayes (Sharon) of Mount Vernon, Phyllis Crowe of Fostoria, Irene Madlem of Owensboro and Barb Graham of Mount Vernon. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
